After living in New York City for some time, I began to notice something at the movie theaters around town. Even more often at the smaller, independent ones. Almost every time I went to a film, I saw a number of people at the theater alone.

At first, I thought maybe they just wanted some time alone. And I'm sure there are people who go solo for that reason. But after some thinking and a few informal polls, I came to the conclusion that sometimes it's just hard to find someone to go see that obscure indie flick, latest zombie movie, or Becoming Jane. And so on.

And that's how I came up with the concept of a place to meet new people based on movie tastes. After development began, we also realized the concept had a lot of potential in the world of online dating. Where do a lot of people go on first dates? The movies of course. So why not meet someone with a similar movie interest?

So that is how movieduo.com came to be. We launched our first fully functional beta version in October 2007. There are still new features in the works, and we will be constantly improving and tweaking things. If you have any suggestions, problems or comments, please let us know!
